The Biltmore in Asheville, NC

Entry to the estate is through the narrow main gate.

After a driving up the 3-mile long entry to the parking lot, and walking a few hundred yards, this is the view of the estate.

This is the exterior of the Grand Staircase that rises from the foyer to the fourth floor.

More of Disney World

In the Contemporary World Lobby is an edible sculpture depicting Pinnocchio and Geppetto.

In the Grand Floridian there is a baker standing in front of a life sized gingerbread house. She is decorating a much smaller version.

Jim developed a liking for this car.

We were lucky enough to get to ride in the very front of the monorail. Here we are in Epcot Center.

Christmas Trees Abound

This is the tree in the lobby of Wilderness Lodge.

This beautifully decorated tree is located in the Animal Kingdom Hotel lobby.

The tree in the lobby of the Grand Floridian is decorated with Victorian ornaments.

Visible through the Mouse Ears, the tree in the Contemporary World Hotel lobby is a little too modern and stark for my taste, but still conveys the season.

Christmas - Florida Style

Of course, it can't be Christmas in Florida without the electrified flamingo! This one, standing in front of one of the trailers at Live Oak RV Resort where Jim and I spent November and part of December, 2007, also nods its head up and down.

This is the home of some locals. Their homestead is highly decorated but not even close to Hartwood Acres in detail or volume of lights.

This is one of the park model trailers, also at Live Oak RV Resort. What seems a little curios, though, is the presence on the icicles at the roof's edge. Isn't this one of the reasons you move to Florida in the first place??

Here I am with the much sought after lighted palm tree - a staple in any good Florida home. Tacky, of course, but great fun.
